If in the type of scan i check the scan archives option at the end of the san it shows me some files that havent been scanned. Why??

avast can’t scan files that are password protected, it doesn’t know the password. There are many legitimate reasons why a file was password protected. For instance, the ones you’re talking about. Lavasoft stores its data in a password-protected ZIP archives (to prevent other similar tools from messing up with them). It’s really nothing to worry about - it’s normal. In AdAware and S&D, when you fix/remove things it keeps backup/recovery information so you can restore anything that was mistakenly fixed/removed, etc. After a reasonable time your system has suffered no adverse effects, you can get rid of the older recovery/backup points. This should reduce the number of protected files.

You can’t scan files that are in the Exclusion list.

You can’t scan files that are in use. You need to schedule a boot time scanning.

how can i do that?
Open S&D, click on the Backup buttom at left.
Right click the area at right with the backups and choose the option selecting all backups with more than 30 days.
Delete selected backups (buttom at the top).
help i was scanning my computer and a virus was found, then my computer log off and a message appears that says: Not found NTLDR press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restarted.
I did it but nothing happens!!!
Better is to start a new thread about your problem…
Did you delete any file or send it to Chest (Quarentine)?
Do you have any other computer to copy this file?
Do you have the Windows CD?
Hi mmm :
In the future, like "Tech" said, start a new "thread" and
do NOT "piggyback" on a thread that someone else
started .
Assuming you were running an Avast scan ( do you know
what "kind" ? ), were you doing it while you were
connected to the internet or while you were NOT
connected to the internet ?
Open S&D, click on the Backup buttom at left.
Right click the area at right with the backups and choose the option selecting all backups with more than 30 days.
Delete selected backups (buttom at the top).
i dont have spybot installed…And the directories of the files that avast shows me at the end of the scan that could not be scanned dont exist…How is this possible?
It’s silly so… why are we talking about this then? : :-[
So, if you don’t post the fully name and path of these files and the specific reason why avast did not scan then we’ll have the high possibility of wrong guessing and suggesting
i have unistalled spybot but these files exist dame…
i am doing a thorough scan with archive scanning. When it finishes i will send u a screenshot
here are the links see them:

http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/9908/2vr9.jpg
in the result it says unable to scan archive is password protected
It is as Tech mentioned in his first post.
Many programs (usually security based ones) password protect their files for legitimate reasons such as AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy, there are others (and avast doesn’t know the password or have any way of using it even if it did know it).
When you run scans with the above programs and you delete harmful entries that they detect, a copy is kept (in quarantine/restore/backup) in case you need to reverse what you did. These are usually password protected, you should do some housekeeping and delete old backup/recovery/quarantine entries (older than two weeks or so), this will reduce the numbers of files that can’t be scanned.
By examining 1) the reason given by avast! for not being able to scan the files, 2) the location of the files, you can get an idea of what program they relate to. You may need to expand the column headings to see all the text.
Files that can’t be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.
Also in adaware if you have many skins these are also protected by password, so get rid of unused skins. That would appear to be what the Lavasoft files that are password protected.
yea but the directories it says at the end of the scan dont exist…I mean there are no such files…They are probably hidden. How can i see them?
Hi ReD-RevolutioN,
These files can all be found on the Internet, and according to DrWeb hyperlink browser are as clean as a baby’s buttock.
Can’t see the fuzz here.
Example:
Dr.Web (R) daemon for Linux v4.33 (4.33.0.09211)

how can i find the files?
The files may well he hidden, we didn’t suggets you try to find them on your hard disk, but look inside the Spybot S&D and AdAware programs and remove old quarantined entries/ redundant skins,
I unistalled spybot the day before but these files still exist…As for ad aware i dont have anything in the quarantine section and i never downloaded any skins
as for me what can u say?
Did you uninstall S&D after the scan, if not they certainly exist, try expanding the column headings so you can see the full path as the ones in the image are truncated \All Users.…\sbRecovery.ini, etc. Then you might be able to find them.
It would appear that the AdAware Default skin is password protected, this is strange as I also use the default but don’t have the password protected issue that you do.
look i reinstalled spybot now and deleted the old backup items that were deleted…As for the ad aware i cant do anything since i told ya that i havent installed any skins and i have deleted the quarantine list
i can see all the directory but i told ya i cant find it in my c: it is pass protected
