problems after install

hi mates

i have installed 4.7.1001, and when i reboot or start pc, windows becomes useless for about 1-2 minutes, seems to be “thinking”. no start menu, no program starts. than the win “wakes up”, but the resident protection of avast doenst start, sound card is disabled (speaker icon doesnt appear) and some startup programs also refuses to start, or to work properly (eg firewall).

any idea how could i fix this?

What other security based software do you have that might have an effect on boot, e.g. anti-spyware applications, SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor (StartUpGuard or OnGuard), PrevX, WinPatrol, ProcessGuard, etc. ?

What Operating System are you using ?
What is your firewall ?

Besides what David asked, can you say to us if any other antivirus is present in your computer?
Did you have any other antivirus in the past? Which one? How did you uninstall it?

i had an old install of xp so i decided to get a fresh one. before this, avast already updated itself to 1001 without any problem. than a few days later i installed the new xp, intel inf utility, dx9c, ati catalys, kerio firewall and avast. all of them were the the same version as before, except the intel inf utility. avast screwed up this time. i suspected intel inf could couse it, so after a newly installed xp i put back the previous intel inf util, but no use. than i got an info about others also having problems with the newest hungarian avast, so i tried the english version, and success. i dont mind the language, if it works correctly… 8)

It shouldn’t be a problem with the language…
If you want to test the hungarian version again, I suggest an installation from the scratch:

Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
Boot.
Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
Boot.
Install again the last version.
Boot.
Check and post the results.
