I uninstalled avast due to latency issues, I was trying to find out what was causing it. Anyhow, it wasn’t avast, the problem is now removed and I had to do a System Restore to a point when avast was still installed. However since I removed the files via windows add/remove programs. Avast is unable to run. It appears to be stuck in self defense mode, and I can’t disable it via the troubleshooting check options. And I cannot run awsclear.exe I get an error saying avast is in self defense mode disbale it etc. Anyone know how I can fully disbale/remove avast so that I might be able to reinstall. Any help is appreciated and thanks. PS. Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I couldn’t log into the support site for some reason ![]()
Indeed, system restore won’t uninstall avast correctly and will mess the computer.
I suggest an installation from the scratch:
- Uninstall avast from Control Panel first. Or boot in Safe Mode and run it.
- Boot.
- Download the latest version of Avast Uninstall and use it for complete uninstallation. Or boot in Safe Mode and run it.
- Boot.
- Install again the latest avast! version.
- Boot.
- Check and post the results.
When I try to uninstall via Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs I recieve an error that says “A setiface error has occured: 536870929” “Try to reinstall or contact support please.”
When I try to reinstall via setupeng.exe It just shows 2 folders with pages moving then goes blank, no messages, no process left running. ???
So, run the uninstaller at Safe Mode.
Thanks much! That worked perfectly! ;D
