I was five days overdue for renewal, so today I purchased a year’s renewal.
I wasn’t sure whether I had to download Avast all over again (hadn’t received the email yet), so I decided first to uninstall my current Avast, so that I could download again (including new license file) and start afresh.
First problem: It won’t uninstall. Error comes up.
Second problem: I can’t even get Avast started.
Third problem: It won’t accept the license file (which I tried downloading by itself and installing as the email directed, to no avail).
Fourth problem: Naturally I can’t install Avast AGAIN, though I tried. Didn’t work!
So, I’ve paid for renewal - but I am still completely without Antivirus!
Help!
If this can’t be fixed, I need to get a refund.
Thanks,
Jacinta
Note: I just restarted my computer and for some reason was able to open Avast. I was able to click on the option of ‘insert license’, but now Avast has completely frozen. It’s worth noting that I am having no problems with any other program on my computer, and that my computer is only a year old.
You have to follow the processs given by essexboy, and use the avast uninstall utility aswClear.exe (the red text in his post is a link for it). You need to follow the instructions in the order given other than the normal uninstall which failed.
You have to run that avast uninstall utility from safe mode to prevent the self-defence module from blocking the uninstall.
