Problems deleting trojen virus

Ive only just down loaded avast home version and its informed me I have a virus every tiome I log on. Ive tried all options from repair to delete, both to the recycle bin and also for avast to delete it when I reboot. Also a reboot scan is a not finding it and not deleting it.

The details of the file are:

C:/DOCUME~1\Leah\LOCALS~1\Temp\kmdA.tmp\FSG.exe

Any ideas. Please help.

Thanks

Leah

The file is on a temporary folder. Can you ‘clean’ your system from the temporary files?

I suggest: Be Clean but there are a lot of other suggestions in ‘Links’ on my signature

If this does not help, can you schedule a boot time scanning?

Hi,

My advice: find this folder (e.g. in “My computer”) and press “shiht + del”, then “ok”. As simple as effective.

I hope it sholud help ;).

What ever you do, DO NOT follow Sindbad"s advice.

Sinbad
That isn’t funny and doesn’t belong on this forum.

What’s up? ???

I am kind of confused myself.

Leah,
You might find this link helpful.

Cleaning out the Temp folder, using BeClean on a regular basis and following advice given here in the forum on protecting and securing your system will bring rewards of peace of mind surfing the net.

Good luck

Sinbad’s advice isn’t bad. Deleting the temp folder won’t cause any harm. Likely you will get a message saying “can’t delete” since there are likely files in there which are still in use. And if the folder can be deleted it will be recreated as soon as there is a need for it.

I’m having a problem with the same file, as it seems the file FSG.exe is a valid part of the program ‘K Diet’, a Kazaa spyware removing program which has to load up every time along with Kazaa. Adding the directory to the exclusion list yields no results as the ‘On Access’ scanner scans it every time anyway. Is there a way to actually exclude this file from the scan? It shuts down ‘K Diet’ whenever it is deleted.

If anyone’s curious I’ve attached the file renamed as a log. Strangley enough it only contains one word, “Booyah”. I guess the programmer threw it in as a joke?

Thanks all.

Did you put it to the exclusions list of the Standard Shield?

I downloaded the latest version of K Diet, but didn’t find any virus warning about it. Can you move the FSG.exe file to Chest and submit it to ALWIL Software for analysis? Thanks.

Technical, if you look at the file path it looks as though it’s starting with the word “Document” - maybe Documents and Settings? If so, Sinbad’s advice would remove the entire Documents and Settings folder if it worked!

I think it can only delete the last directory:
C:/DOCUME~1\Leah\LOCALS~1Temp and not the entire folder C:/DOCUME~1… ::slight_smile: ???
