I’m running Avast 5.0.594 Free on 2 Windows 7 64 bit PC’s and have no problems installing 32 bit programs. Please give us more details, Avast version Free/Pro/ IS and build 5.0.594 is the latest, program names and versions you cant install etc.
Can you post a screen shot of the error message?

Bill

I use Avast Free 5.0.594.

These were blocked programs.

What other security software do you have on your machine now and in the past? This includes previous antivirus, firewall, other security software. If you had the software in the past, how did you remove it (the vendor’s uninstaller tool or some other method)?

Are you using Ashampoo firewall (FW)? IF you are using this FW, many others here on the forum have reported a conflict with Ashampoo FW and Avast, so I recommend that you uninstall this FW per the instructions of the vendor/FW. You can temporarily turn on the Windows FW for now for protection.

The items that are in the Virus Chest, does it say the name of the malware (virus)? I cannot see it from the screenshot.

I also recommend that you check your computer for malware with Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (MBAM).
· Download free http://www.malwarebytes.org/ for an on-demand scanner.
· Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
· After install, click update so you have latest database before scanning.
· Under Settings:
o General: Automatically Save File After Scan Completes is checked off
o Scanner Settings: Check all boxes
o Updater: Download and install update if available is checked off
· Once the program has loaded, select “Perform FULL Scan”, then click Scan.
· The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
· When the disinfection scan is complete, a log will appear in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Extra Note).
· Click the “remove selected” button to quarantine anything found. You will find the infection details under the Quarantine tab.
· The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
· Copy & Paste the entire report in your next reply.

If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts – Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process; If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

I will await your reply to the questions above and the MBAM log. Thank you and welcome to the forum.
