problems installing virus software

when trying to install this protection system on my computer i keep getting this message;

Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for file avgwdsvc.exe: starting service…
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

what do i need to do to finish installing this on my computer?

Are you installing avast? Or AVG (avgwdsvc.exe)?

i tried avg first, got basically same message, then i tried the avast to see if that would work

So you did not uninstall AVG correctly and it will conflict with avast.
