Hi! I updated to the latest version of Avast! and now Firefox get frozen very often, and always freezes when I want to logout from Gmail. I turned all Avast! shields off and then I was able to log out without a problem. Wath could be the problem? Is there a way to easily revert back to tle previous version of Avast? Thank you!
PS: And Avast! shileds keep disabling, I have to click on FIX NOW many times. It all worked perfectly until the latest program update. What should I do?
I have just uninstalled my Avast and installed the latest version again and the problems are still here. Is there a way to install the previous version of Avast! Free? Where can I get it? I can’t do anything now, please help!
Are you running Firefox in Sandboxie?
Yes.
And refering to my post here:
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=103687.60
Even if I disable the behaviour shield the problem still presists. I go to some website, Firefox freezes and Avast shields get disabled.
I fond the previous version of Avast on this site:

Would it be safe to install it? Will Avast even let me install and older version?
Please help me! I’m an Avast user for almost 10 years now but I can’t live like that. Avast is disabling shields constantly and Firefox keeps freezing. I don’t want to start using Avira but please help me, tell me what to do. Thanx!
Well why so paranoid? What you CAN do is don’t use Firefox in Sandboxie. Vlk basicly answered your question with his question. I understand that we all have a strong need to be protected from viruses as good as possible, but some ways obviously don’t work and that’s by design! Sandboxing a browser is already a huge security improvement, the whole point about doing it (talking only about viruses) is that a malware etc. won’t affect the rest of your system. The double protection with an antivirus on your host is of course a good and usefull thing, but you can’t expect this software to compromise an other security software (Sandboxie) to be even better protected. If that was so easy to do by an antivirus application it would render the whole sandboxing product useless! That’s why avast! (at least in my expectation) won’t be able to get script shield working for Google’s Chrome either, because that browser uses sandboxing technology out-of-the-box and was designed to be safe and secure. There were only 2 succesfull exploits written by now that made it possible to break out of the sandbox of Chrome and those were coded by absolute specialist from for example Vupen (www.vupen.com), a company that makes money by selling exploits to interests from famous products. We ain’t talking about some freaky hackers or amateurs that make viruses with toolkit’s or some garbage here! Those exploits took weeks to write and your usual malware is not nearly as complicated and dangerous.
Maybe you reconsider your strategy and try to relax a little about your security. This post is not intended to offend you, just to help you understand properly about security measures.
Firefox, Sandboxie and Avast were all working fine on my system - before the latest Avast update. So I’m looking for a solution from Avast to make it work again. That’s all. But I need a solution fast. I am sorry that I updated today and didn’t wait for the next release, but how could I know…
your reply leads me to the conclusion that you didn’t understand a word i said i’m afraid…
your “solution” did NOT work before the update, it just did NOT give you errors like it does now! avast! can’t break into your sandboxie and scan for viruses there, it just can’t! maybe you’ll give my post another read?!
bye
My “solution” worked perfectly fine before the update. Of course I was able to scan the sandboxed files & folders of Sandboxie with Avast. Now, after that update, Avast disables all its shields and Firefox freezes when I go check my Gmail.
ok i give up, you are right! the update fu***d it up, just wait for a fix. :o
i guess some people just don’t want help 8)
Wrong.
Read and learn how antiviruses like Avast interact with Sandboxie.
Start reading from "Q. Can the anti-virus detect a virus in the sandbox? ".

There’s a parallel thread on the Sandboxie forum (http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=83130) - also started by the OP.
Tzuk is hopefully looking into it, but I’d assume it will be the Script Shield somehow not being able to communicate with the outside world (because of the walling imposed by Sandboxie) and hosing things up.
Vlk
You are right. I disabled the Script Shield by unchecking these options and now everything works as before.

If you guys or Tzuk can somehow resolve this, super, if not I’ll just leave it with the Script Shield off. Thank you for your help, I’m really glad that I can keep Avast! as my AV and normaly work again!
Beta Sandboxie does not fix the problem.
Avast without protective behavior problems not exist, or
Avast without Skript-Protect problems not exist.
I too have this problem in FF, but it seems so far, only with Facebook picture viewer. I have also posted on Sandboxie forum. FF hangs if I try and view a picture in FB and I must close FF and restart it. No problems if FF is not run in a Sandbox. A fix would be appreciated.
Sandboxie 3.74 update fixes the problem
