Problems streaming HTTP stream

ADDENDUM:

Sorry, I forgot to say I also tried the following:
Attempted to STOP every of the 6 providers one after the other and Stop On-access Protection.

I just tried your download link and as you can see from the picture had no problem.

How did you fix your problem Bob?
I can’t even download email attachments from the http://mail.yahoo.ca

What is going on with my system…
I wonder if Lukor read my messages…

Hello,

does the problem persists even when you terminate WebShield (or perhaps all avast! providers) - or not ?

It is somewhat confusing to place this issue into the 2 years old thread - we have done many improvements in WebShield since that time (at least I hope :stuck_out_tongue: )

Yes Lukor, thanks for your reply.
It does persist if I turn off one or all providers. Even if I disable all Avast protections.

I ended up removing Avast all together and reverted back to my previous solution.
In the meanwhile, lost all internet connectivity after removing Avast (I guess a worm had gotten a hold of my machine).
Ran a Spybot Search and destroy, WinsockXPfix and after a few hours of research, got my internet back on.

Now with Norton, everything works good again, or so it seems.
I’m really behind on a lot of projects so now is not the time for me to try new solutions but I would be so happy to say bye bye to Norton once and for all when this version expires.

If you guys had a one stop solution for 15$ or so per year, I would be going with you no questions asked then.

The only thing I could think is that I didn’t deinstall AVG via the safe mode. It might have left some remnants when Avast was installed?

Feel free to ask me any question. I would love to help you guys get a comparable solution to NAV up and running in the next years to come.

Good luck with all your projects,

Pete.

I think you have mentioned the magic word Norton if that was on your system previously, I know you mentioned AVG but if NAV was there as well; it can be an absolute pig to remove, even after add remove programs there can be remnants that conflict with all sorts of things.

This forum is littered with the debris left behind after a Norton uninstall. It really gets its hooks into everything.

A link worth looking at, which is a program removal tool that can remove the remnants of a number of different Norton Programs:
Removing your Norton program using SymNRT

Well, it was not really because since then I reformated the system using the HP recovery CDs.
HOWEVER, I have numerous OTHER Norton products installed on my system. ie: Partition Magic, Norton Ghost, pcAnywhere, etc… but NO I didn’t have Norton Internet Security installed (or previously installed after reformating) on my system right before trying to install Avast!

Only AVG.

Thanks for the link though. I might give it a try after ghosting my machine 1st…
Would be nice to run Avast!
