no problem here
can u check your update settings…
the settings should be auto detect.
Thanks for answer.
I am trying to make a manual update and the error appears again.
I checked the connection with the server through a telnet connection and a connection refused error is showed.
Do you know what can be the problem?
Thanks
Maybe you have a problem with your internet connection. Do you have normal access to internet?
And what are your update settings in avast?
DJBone
Yes, I have internet access without problems.
I checked the avast registry and it will expire the 30 of October.
Thanks
DJBone
2012, of course.
Thanks!
Then a few more questions:
OS…? (32/64 Bit - which SP)
Other security related software installed…?

Try avast main GUI → settings → updates → proxy settings → “Direct connection (no proxy)”
Save the settings.
Please report back.
I have multiple cases of this exact issue recently, from users who have no idea how to go in here and change this setting. I believe this is an intermittant bug - “Try avast main GUI → settings → updates → proxy settings → Direct connection (no proxy) and Save the settings”

I am also having issues with Avast Free 6.0 with the update to the virus definitions or the program. Just started this afternoon…has run perfectly until today.
I get an error message for both saying “the package is broken”
Download the latest avast Free (currently, 6.0.1367) (NOT the trials, but the Free edition). Run the downloaded setup.exe over your current installation. Once the new installation finishes, reboot. After the reboot, let avast update itself (do not force it).
If you have more problems, please start a new topic, as this one is about different issue than yours.
