Hey there community,
Anyone else experiencing problems with avast freezing on Dell and HP PCs? I work for a tech firm and it seems to happen at random, on both old and new machines.
Extremely generalized question, You need to be far more specific if you require a valid answer ???
I’m just saying. 
dun bother about the brands of computers. the important part is what programs are running on startup, and system specs: eg. windows 7 32 bit service pack 1.
also, are there any error messages?
I know it’s a generalized question, but it’s to the extent of the problem. We have had problems on both Windows XP and Windows 7 computers. Some computers freeze on startup with a black screen, while others freeze up Outlook. It’s not even the difference between upgrading an existing edition versus a brand new install because we have had issues in both cases. The only thing that seems to work is disabling the real-time shields. Don’t get me wrong, we love avast and install it on probably a couple hundred machines a year. It’s just some of these issues have us stumped.
As in your first question, it’s to general and vague.
If you expect answers and solutions, we need specifics.
Remember, you’re in front of the computer with a problem.
You have to be our eyes and ears if you expect any one to give you valid answers.

I do not think it is as much a problem in regards to models and vendors, as it is to all the various kinds
of software that come with new systems, that often are never used and take up space. I would first try
and find out regarding the problem PC’s, how are they configured, what software is installed, and are there
any common configurations/software set ups that seem to be most affected.
Also, do not forget to use the event viewer and built in admin tools of windows, that may help with narrowing down
where the errors originate from, etc. Just a thought, otherwise we would need as bob said, more details and what your
Admin logs are reporting. I would suspect certain machines that are affected will show a pattern of what the culprit could
be causing the problems on some of the PC’s you mention that are unstable. All it takes is a minor conflict with some certain
software, certain configs, etc., to bring down a system. If you can, report back with more details.
