Your not saying what your OS is ?
I googled goldmine 5.5 here are some of the minuses
Minus : Chronic synchronization problems with GoldSync even in current editions.
Minus : Limited web-based functionality
Minus : Some structural problems with legacy code that limit new product feature enhancements.

I am making proofs to demo that ultimate avast version is failing. Failing under windows xp pro sp 3.
Like is free have no support. It’s all fault of the avast free version.

The error happen with Goldmine closed

In addition to the above suggestion, I also suggest the following:

You are also using an outdated (old) version of Avast. Try updating to the current version of Avast, which is 6.0.1125:

  1. Save a copy of Avast for the product you need (if not already on your machine) and save it to your HDD:
    http://www.avast.com/download-software
  2. Download the Avast Uninstall Utility http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear6.exe and save it to your HDD.
  3. Disconnect from the Internet at this time.
  4. Go to Control Panel and uninstall Avast through Add/Remove Programs if possible and reboot.
  5. If Step 4 fails, boot into Safe Mode (hit F8 repeatedly) and run the Avast Uninstall Tool.
  6. Reboot.
  7. Install the newest version of Avast and reboot.
  8. Get Internet access and register your copy or add the license key for Free, Pro, or AIS.
  9. Update the Avast definitions.

See if an updated version of Avast fixes your problem. Thank you.

Avast don’t go well with the last TB Thunderbird version.
Give me problem looking up smtp.gmail.com

And I am not sure of Avast, because I suspend the protection and the problem seems to persist.
It’s intermitent.

My problem continues just the same.
In other post I have received help about SSL connection that I haven’t try.
But I am not sure because I turn off Avast and my problem continues.

In TB forum nobody knows about this problem.

Is supposed that TB accounts need a special configuration because avast take care of encrypted connections with SSL.

But I am afraid, and think you must take into consideration, that my Thunderbird is portable version and if I adequate to avast antivirus will not go well in a space without Avast, because of the peculiar needs of the antivirus.

Do you think so ?
