Problems With Behaviour Shield

Just a line or two which may assist the Avast developers.

Since installing the latest updates to Avast Internet Security Suite I have suffered intermittent freezing of web pages ( IE & Firefox ),files slow to open, context menus hanging,Windows Live Mail slow to open.Even my USB wireless mouse has been playing up and refusing to work at times requiring a reboot.

I have tried various things to rectify it,including a clean install and repairs of AIS ( twice ) and nothing worked. Then I read on the forum about problems with the Behaviour Shield.I have disabled the Shield and wow all problems have disappeared at a stroke.

The computer is now quick and responsive,no problems at all.

Could you please retest it with beta version 6 ?

If you have still the same problem, I’ll fix it.
Thanks.

Hello PK,

Thanks for your work on a great product.

I asked this in the beta thread but it seems to have gotten lost. Since it seems relevant, I hope it’s OK to ask again here: will version 6 be compatible with ThreatFire on all platforms? (I’m especially interested in the conflict with the 5.1.889 Behavior Shield on Windows 7 64 bit systems.)

Thanks.

I believe threatfire is a bit obsolete now day’s so i read somewhere on this forum as it hasn’t had anything done with it in nearly a year so if i were you i would ditch it.

As a matter of fact they came out with a new version a few days ago (http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?68805-Release-of-ThreatFire-v4.7.0.48), and it’s been updating itself daily since then. As you see, they also announced an upcoming maintenance release as well as a major upgrade in the works.

Regards.

Look’s like they are starting to move on it, for how long though before it goes into dormancy again for another year, i must admit that i tried this program for 3/4 months about a year and a half ago, it never detected anything for me probably because im pretty safe with my browsing but it was huge on it’s resource usage, twice what MBAM PRO was using so it was trashed eventually and really dont think it will be needed with the new avast 6 version but good luck to you anyway

I hope you can understand pk that I have just got everything sorted out and I don’t really want to uninstall Avast again and install the beta.
