problems with firewall in internet security

Recently Avast have some problems with the firewall. Three pc’s has some problems. One can’t get email from pop server. Another can’t send email. The third one can not browse to the internet (any kind of browser), but email works okay and map shares are working perfectly.
After disabling the firewall, all three pc’s are working 100% percent.

I think a update of the virus library give these problems. Strange. These updates has nothing to do with the firewall (I guess).

I started having the same problem yesterday. My e-mail programs [ incredimail and pop-peeper ] would get a socket error 10060 Port 110, protocol pop ] when trying to retrieve pop e-mails. When I turn the firewall off, everything is fine. Please fix. Thank you.

Tried adding the mail apps to the rules list to allow traffic? The 3rd problem sounds like it might be related to this: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=143211.0

On a sidenote to pattygayle: Incredimail is adware that installs bucket loads of unwanted apps. Better use Thunderbird, Live mail, Outlook or any other decent mail program.
