problems with firewall

Hi I have recently purchased Avast Internet Security for windows XP. I have noticed that the firewall does not work, every time i try and turn it on a message comes back saying ‘firewall nit available’.
Please can someone help me sort out this problem.

is ur windows XP service pack 2 or higher?

if so, could u try a repair on Avast through the uninstaller?

Prior to installing avast Internet Security (AIS), what firewall did you use ?

What was your AV prior to installing AIS ?

Thanks AntiVirusASet problem solved, went into add remove and updated Avast. Works perfect now.
