Problems with last update and Vista

I followed the proposal for the update 5.1.889. After reboot a black screen appeared, only with a mouse cursor, which was moveable, but no more harddisc activity.
After 10 minutes, I tried a simple reboot, ignoring the proposal for the save mode, same picture.
Then I boot in save mode and deinstalled Avast also with the deinstall utility. Then I took a downloaded install file and installed it fresh, without reboot. It was possible to switch to another user, but the logon screen was unattended for some time and showed this: logon.scr “Fehler in Anwendung” its a german windows. But after clicking OK it was possible to logon and to use the computer.
Then I tried to go back to the older version. Following a link in the forum I downloaded a file and installed it. The installation seemed to go a bit different, including an error which meant that the install program can’t get access to a folder to store a file. But the folder existed and by clicking retry, the installation was successful. But I had to reboot and after doing that, again the black screen. This time I wait for a longer time and there was again the message: logon.scr “Fehler in Anwendung”. After clicking OK the logon screen appeared, but the logon itself was very strange: The system reported about no access to som e system folders ond processes and booted into a nearly empty screen in “Windows 2000” design.
After rebooting in save mode I found, that I again installed the 5.1.889 Version.
Then I made sure to get the older version (5.0.677), and after uninstall and install, the system works properly.

It is a Acer Laptop with Windows Vista SP2 and I disabled all Acer tools and there is no other security software installed, as far as I know.

There are a lot of messages about problems with the update, but up to now, I found nothing about Vista, and nothin about this kind of problem.

What should I do to get a working update?

Try uninstalling .667 with the uninstall tool and then do a custom install of .889 without the Behavior Shield. There have been some reported BeS conflicts with the latest upgrade and this may be related.
