I’ve encountered some strange problems, that I’ve never experienced before. Usually I don’t have any problems with Avast.
I’m running Windows 7 and Google Chrome. For some reason, today no web pages are loading. I have no problems with my web connection, and everything is working as normal.
When checking the Avast interface, it lists my current virus definitions as “ffffff-ff”. I have no idea what that is. Also, When i try updating either the program or the definitions, I receive an error stating that either host could not be contacted or an HTTP error.
Once in awhile, I’ll notice a process connected to Avast in task manager called "instup"I have no idea what it’s installing. Web pages seem to load after I reboot the pc, but then they stop working. I don’t want to have to keep rebooting my pc every 10 minutes.
I like Avast, but it seems suddenly it’s causing major problems, and I have no clue why.
Edit: I would also like to add, that if I check certain areas of the avast interface, ie. Tools or Active Protection, nothing loads in the window. Also, it is listing the program version as 32767.65535
I am unable to uninstall, disable, or prevent it from starting up through msconfig. I’m sure avast is causing these problems, and I need to get rid of it to check ><
