Hi, I have the free Avast on 2 computers. I have installed the new version yesturday. So now, I cannot :
Go on Internet with any browser.
Close boths computers.
Uninstall Avast or retry installing a new version.
Put an older version of the logiciel in remplacement.
Make a update of the logiciel or the anti-virus database.
Get a support via the logiciel (Try 4 times)
The only way to go on internet, is to uninstall Avast. The uninstalling program is jammed since 1 hour, almost at the finish line, but this is the only way I got… What the Hell…
Uninstall is an overly aggressive action to resolve this (unfortunately you have hit an error there also), disabling the web shield should normally have resolved the problem (whilst you investigate), but retaining the remainder of the avast protection.
The usual cause of this connection problem is a firewall blocking a new updated avast function.
What is your operating system and firewall ?
Does it allow avastSvc.exe internet access ?
If it does delete the entry for it and do a manual update and reconnect to the internet, this should force the firewall to ask permission again.

All of the above may be a moot point if you are having a problem uninstalling. But now you have experienced an uninstall problem, a clean reinstall is the next option.
Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear.exe find it here and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for all versions).
Now uninstall avast! - using add remove programs, if you can’t do that (as appears to be the case) start from the next step, reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility (see note 2), it will request it be run from safe mode (and will handle the boot into safe mode), first for 8.x if previously installed and then for 9.0, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.
Note: The default install location for avast is C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast.
Note 2: Some people are reporting that after running the avast uninstall utility it is self-deleting after being run, so best to keep a copy (as you may have to run it more than once.
