Sorry about that. After it restored Windows 8, I logged on and it just said something like “Windows 8.1 could not be installed. We have restored your PC to it’s previous version of Windows.” It didn’t even say it was an error code but this code was after the message: 0xC1900101- 0x40017. I updated Windows 8 using ‘Windows Update’ prior to trying the 8.1 upgrade but planned to use SlimDrivers when I had completed the upgrade to 8.1. Anyway, when the first installation failed, that was the first thing I did before trying the installation again and it still came up with the same message which is why now I’m going to try a clean install from the Windows 8 disc and then try the 8.1 upgrade again.
Just a quick question about this: if I can’t upgrade to 8.1 would it be OK to just run my system on Windows 8 or would it be a security risk due to it not being the latest version?
