Thanks for the info, Bob. Before readings this, I tried doing the 8.1 upgrade again, it still didn’t work so I reluctantly updated the card reader driver through Windows and all that did was start this hard disk light flashing constantly again. Tried the upgrade and it still failed. I might end up having to clean install from the disc again trying the method the guy from Microsoft Answers used before trying the upgrade again which would obviously be very time consuming. However, I’m beginning to think that this upgrade issue isn’t related to the card reader so I might try a chkdsk repair before trying the upgrade again. Is it an option to just stick with Windows 8 with all the Windows 8 updates and forget the 8.1 upgrade or is it a security risk due to it not being the most up to date version?
