Problems with my laptop

Hi!

I have this problem with my laptop.
Whenever I run an application like anti-virus software it shuts down automatically after a few minutes of scanning.

I don’t know if it’s a virus that made this.
I’m not good at this kind of stuff (about computer troubleshooting).

Please help…

Hi…

Just to make sure I understand correctly, does this occur only with anti-malware and security software or with any (and all) applications you try to run?

Are you able to scan in safe mode?

May God Bless you!

Most probably you’re infected… or your computer is turning off due to overheating…
I suggest:

  1. Clean your temporary files.
  2. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
  3. Use SUPERantispyware, MBAM or Spyware Terminator to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete them.
  4. Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest avast! antirootkit or Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
  5. Make a HijackThis log to post here or this analysis site. Or even submit the RunScanner log to to on-line analysis.
  6. Disable System Restore and then reenable it again.
  7. Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster.
  8. Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.

Laptops are notorious for ingesting whatever loose dust and fluff and depositing inside causing the system to overheat.

Google for “Cleaning laptops” (without quotes) and you will see plenty of good hints on how to remove the dreaded dust bunnies.

Hi all…

I didn’t think of this angle, I thought “shuts down” referred to the software. ;D

Best Regards…

Thanks a lot guys. I’ll try what you’ve told me.

You might be running 2 antiviruses or you might have an anti-malware/spyware that is running in background.
If uninstalling the second anti-virus/malware doesn’t fix it then, it could probably be a virus or your computer might be incapable of running the anti-virus. No offense but, laptops are not as powerful as desktop comps. Even me, I have lot of problems here in my laptop.
Hope it helps.
