I am running Windows 7, x64. My CPU is a Q6600. Today, I updated to Avast version 11.1.2241 through the gui portal.
Upon rebooting, I found my system sluggish. I right-clicked on the Avast icon and selected ‘Open Avast user interface’. What I got was Avast store. Eventually I was able to get rid of this and bring up the real user interface. This problem happens repeatedly: no easy access to the settings.
The sluggishness continues. Looking at Windows task manager, I see that Avast is averaging 30% of my cpu, and I see all 4 cores working hard.
This is unacceptable, and I am rolling back the install to the previous version I had. If this continues, I’m going to have to abandon Avast and switch to ClamWin which I use on my Windows 2000 boxes.
Strange, when I click Open Avast user interface from the avast tray icon, right click options, that is what I get. If you just click on the avast tray icon does the avastUI open at the Home page ?
You can see my system spec in my signature below my posts, so we are broadly similar in age of system, though my win XP Pro SP3, will have a lower system requirement namely RAM and I have 4GB.
What avast version were you running before this latest release ?
What other security based software do you have installed (firewall, anti-spyware, etc.) ?
Same problem here, version 11.1.2241, Windows 7 x 64 cpu usage 25% or more all the time.
I dont have any other security software installed, happens since i updated to this version. please fix!!!
