PROBLEMS WITH "SKINS" WHEN TRYING TO SCAN

Hi there - Can someone please assist?

Trying to run a scan but after the Tests Memory and Startup finishes, I keep getting the message
UNKNOWN ERROR - Skin is not complete. Look at the following description: SKIN IS NOT LOADING PROPERLY. When I click OK, I get a CHOOSE SKIN option and when I choose a skin, I get the same message as above. When I click CANCEL, the message is SKIN SELECTION CANCELED. Programme will be terminated.

This is the first time this has ever happened and I’ve been running the Avast (free edition) for almost one year now. Any assistance will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have MBAM installed? Did you run it and send files to its Quarantine?

I am also having this issue… don’t have malwyre bytes stuff but have iobit 360 security, and spybot s&d.
Have tried reinstalling and it still happens…

I do not believe Spybot S&D would have an effect on avast in the way described in this thread.
I have used Spybot for many years without it ever effecting the skins.
As far as iobit 360, I have not a clue since I have never used it.

I am sorry that I can not help with your problem since I have never had a skins problem with avast.
Tech asked about malwarebytes antimalware (MBAM) since there have been some people who have experienced some skins problem with MBAM installed … though, I never have but I have MBAM installed.


Reinstalled avast and now it works… no idea what happend… so try reinstalling it.

I fix computers for a living. Whenever I run combofix on a computer with Avast running, I get the same “skin is not complete” error message. I just uninstall Avast and reinstall it, I haven’t found an easier fix yet.
