Problems with The Bat Plugin

Hello,
I have a problem with the The Bat plugin. I want to use the plugin for scanning the incoming mails and transfer them to the quarantine-folder in The Bat, but that does not work properly because of the on-access-scanner.
When i download my mails, the on-access-scanner always scans for viruses in the The Bat tmp-files, although he should not do that.
I have disabled the internet-mail-module of the on-access-scanner and i also created a exception rule in the standard-module of the on-access-scanner and in the main program, but it still does not work: the on-access-scanner still scans the The Bat tmp-files.
Any hints?

Thanks,
GoDFaTHeR

What do you mean?
Did you add the folder to the exclusions list?

Are you using Windows 98? Did you boot after changing this setting?

No, I did not add the whole folder to the exclusion list.
The Bat! creates temporary files with the extension TMP in the temp folder of the current user while downloading mails.
I added the following entry to the exclusion list of the standard protection of the on-access-scanner and also to the global exclusion list of the main program:
“C:\DOKUMENTE UND EINSTELLUNGEN\BENJAMIN\LOKALE EINSTELLUNGEN\TEMP*.TMP”
But avast still scans these files. Is there something wrong with this entry or why does avast ignore it?

I am using Windows XP (german version) and I rebooted after changing these settings. Only the instant messaging protection, the network protection and the standard protection is activated in the on-access-scanner, the other protections including the internet mail componet are disactivated.

same here … version 4.2 worked just fine ; TheBat plugin took care of TB mails and the Internet mail on-access provider took care of other e-mail.
But in 4.5 that changed ; the on-access scanner jumps in before the TB plugin can move virus-emails to the Quarantine folder.
and IMAP is also not working …

anybody tried downgrading to 4.2 ???

mmm, on my system (Windows 2000) it looks like there’s a subdirectory ‘bat’ in the ‘temp’ directory … haven’t noticed that before ; wonder if the TB plugin made it ??

I do not have a directory called “bat” in my temp directory.

If you’re talking about avast it will be 4.1 (not 4.2).
Anyway, downgrading is not available anymore and you will have troubles. You can uninstall 4.5 and install 4.1. But, most probably Alwil team is trying to solve this apparent incompatibility…

Does the Alwil team already know about this bug or should I report it?

there is a post in the 4.5 Beta board about the TB plugin not working as it should anymore in 4.5.
I added a post to it and asked if this is a know bug …

while waiting for a bug-fix, I removed the plugin from TheBat, so that all mail gets scanned by the normal On-Access mail scanner … works OK.
