I’ve always loved Avast and recommended it to all my friends. Well, until I installed the latest free version (2015). That’s when I stopped being able to connect to my Java-based online bank client. Lucky my brother had an installer for one of the previous versions of Avast at hand: when I uninstalled Avast Free Antivirus 2015 and instead installed Avast Free Antivirus ver. 5.0.677, everything worked fine and now I can log into my bank client again. Sad that I have to use a version that was created back in 2010, though. Hope this will be fixed some day, although I have no idea how I will know about it.
Hello,
was there some alert window from avast? Have you tried to disable single shield to find what component causes this? When does the issue starts? – Just after the java-based client starts of during login or after login? If it’s before login (and we don’t have to have that bank account) can you provide us link for downloading the client for testing?

Thanks for quick replying!
No, there were no alerts from Avast, so I wasn’t even sure at first that the problem is due to the antivirus. But then I tried to connect on my brother’s PC and it worked all right. And he has Avast 5. Plus I tried to connect on my netbook, which also had free Avast 2015, and I couldn’t. Then I uninstalled Avast on my netbook and installed an alternative antivirus (no ad here, don’t worry). And I connected at once!
So here is the procedure that my bank uses: there is no app that you have to downlod and install and then launch. You just go to their web-site (https://my.ukrsibbank.com/ua/sme/operations/staraccess/login/) and it launches a Java-based applet, where you are prompted to choose the key-containing file from a USB-drive or elsewhere and enter your password. After you do this the main window opens, where you do all your banking things. Only in my case under Avast 2015 the main window would not open. Instead I received this error message: (http://i58.fastpic.ru/big/2015/0205/58/37c7e2848c7bea8b9dd86d572a4c7458.jpg)
Here is my translation of the error message from Russian:
Error connecting to bank server.
Contact your network administrator.
Hide details. Close.
Original error text: (there it goes in the English, I will not re-type it here, just look it up in the pic above).
…
Check:
- your bank server connection channel status;
- availability of access to bank server (app.ukrsibbank.com:443);
- if necesssary, configure your network filters (firewall);
- if you work via a proxy, check the proxy availability (app.ukrsibbank.com:443);
After all above try to reconnect and resubmit your data.
end
I didn’t disable any shields because it’s a bank connection after all.
Hope this helps you to nail it.
Hello,
thank you for the provided information. I will pass it on our QA.

We have just released a beta version that fixes bunch of issues in HTTPs scanner. Hopefully it will help you with your banking site. In case you are into beta testing, see here for the download links:
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=165749.0
In the mean time we’ll check the banking URLs here.
Thanks, Lukas.
the beta lets me do my banking all right!
hope this helps you to release an update for the official latest version of Avast
p.s. you have really wicked capture here!
Thanks, we’ve been trying to simulate the problem throughout the whole day, but it’s somewhat hard without the actual banking account. So the confirmation that it really went away with the beta helps us a lot.
Thanks you.
Lukas.
