Hi,
I’m having several issues with the Virus Chest after Avast has moved two copies of a false positive PDF file to it.
I was archiving material from my NAS to two different removable HDDs (better safe than sorry).
A PDF file was considered harmful (this is a false positive IMVHO) so both copies were moved to the chest.
I tried to restore them on the spot, but the first issue arose: clicking on the button next to DELETE in the chest (see Screenshot of Avast Free Antivirus on 2017-12-28 08-38-09.png) did nothing.
Later, after the PC had been rebooted, I tried again. This time the button would work, but as the removable HDD was not present, the restore failed… so that file from the chest got lost.
Now I have one copy left in the chest, and the button does nothing again.
How do I:
- get the file back? (I can try connecting the removable drive that was J: and reboot the PC, but if anything goes wrong I’ll just lose the file… forever as it’s no longer available for download)
- report it as a false positive?
- get the issue about the non-working button fixed?
P.S. It seems that one cannot open support tickets for the free version of Avast anymore. Do you guys concur?
P.S. #2 The page at https://support.avast.com/en-za/article/Use-Antivirus-Virus-Chest is out-of-date (doesn’t match the current version of Avast)
