Program cannot set property into main Storage with avast!4.7

Hello!
I have avast! 4.7 installed since lots of months ago, and only now I have some (bad) news.
When I try to lauch avast! AV, it begins testing memory. At this point, it stops and I get a message:
“The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. Program cannot set property into main Storage”
I tried the FAQs, and there is a very similar one!:

«Q: What should I do when I see this error message: “Unknown error. Program cannot set property into main Storage”?»

But the answer begins:
«A: Solution described in this FAQ should not be used with the program version 4.7.»

What a pervertion! What can I do?

[Pentium3, 400Mhz, 128Ram, WindowsME (pls don’t recomend swiching :slight_smile: ), Cable modem, Firewall ZoneAlarm]

Please help me!! Thanks, Pedro.

Pedro, please, download the last avast setup file and try to install (repair) your installation.
Since version 4.7.807 a new data storage called SQLT is used by avast! Which version are you using?

Hello,

I’ve got exactly the same problem as Pedro since begining of September.
I tried “Tech” solution: uninstall Avast and install the latest version… and now it’s not running at all… I’ve got a new error message:
“Ecran Splash Avast! n’a pas pu charger la configuration”
If i choose “Ok” a new error message appears:
“Avast! Interface utilisateur simplifiée impossible de charger la configuration”
Sorry I just have the French error message version :-[

Thanks for your help :wink:

just one more information, I’ve got exactly the same problem on my 3 computers (2 with XP Pro and one with XP mediacenter Edition) ???

What language version of Windows is that?
Did you install this version of avast! from clean, or is it updated from previous versions?

I’ve done it by upgrades and then I tried to install the last full version.

My problem is now corrected. I’ve just changed the avast.ini file, replacing the line
Database=SQLT by
Database=XML
Everythings ok now.

Thanks for your Help :wink:

Since version 4.7.807 a new data storage called SQLT is used by avast! Which version are you using?
Because the new storage system has NOTHING to do with MDAC/Jet whatsoever or XML. So it’s really very unlikely it would help… but as you’re telling so… I’m confused…
Which version of avastare you using?

i too got the same problem but by changing database= SQLT by database= XML

after that when i restart my computer avast antivirus didnot work at all, all

functions were disabled then again i changed database to the original one…

but problem was not solved… my OS is WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL…

any one please give me some solution how to rectify it …

This is not a solution at all… It will mess avast installation as you could see, avast antivirus won’t work at all…
Which avast language are you trying to install?
Is it the last version?
Are you installing at the default folder?

yes i am using the latest version…

i had installed avast in english language…

yes i installed it in default folder… my avast version is 4.7.892

vps version is 641-0

Koti, with this info, I can’t do nothing more than asking for Alwil team help.
Seems a code problem or, at least, some library (dll) or file is missing or is corrupted. :-\

I found Avast in August after seeing it in Consumer Reports. All worked well untill this message being discussed showed up in late Sept. which does not allow avast 4.7 to run maually. The autmatic portion seems to run OK. Since this problem was the result of an update perhaps an update should be sent that fixes it. If not bye bye.

Please check the folder \data\log
Are there any files called unpXXXX there (where XXXX is a random number)?
If so, send them to vlk@avast.com
They may contain more information about the problem (maybe a link to this thread).
I can’t help further… I need a programmer here ::slight_smile:

Please post the contents of the files \data\log\error.log.

Thanks
Vlk
