It moved 663 files into the virus chest. It moves files that i as a programer have made and said it had viruses!!! What the hell!!! Then i tried to restore all of the files back to there original location, after it was done, THERE ARE STILL 663 FILES IN THE VIRUS CHEST. Please tell me what the hell is going on and how to fix this so i can delete this horrid program!!!
Please, be calm, avast! works perfectly and does its part of the job…
How could you have 663 infected files?
Why after all you are complaint with avast! which, anyway, caught the virus files?
I have selected the files and clicked on restore, and it hasnt resotred any of them.
Any error messages? Can you extract the files (in contrast to ‘restore’)?
What kind of files did you move to the chest? Give me some examples of file names. Are they all EXE files?
Given the big count of files reported as infected, it’s really very likely that these files really are infected (i.e. no false alarms, no kidding). I mean, the fact the you programmed the programs doesn’t necessarily mean they’re clean – they can be very welll infected (every average virus can infect arbitrary program, no matter whether it’s MS Word or your home-made DVD database…).
I’m sorry but that’s the way it is – now let’s concentrate on how to remove the beast…
I click on a file, hit restore, then it automaticly refreshes the list of infected files, and guess what, the file i just tryed to restore is still there in the chest!!!
The restored files do stay in the chest! That’s a feature!
They’re just copied back to their original location – are you saying that they’re not in your case?
Well first off, the virus chest file is 2.47 gigs large. i need that hard drive space back. Also, now some of my programs dont work. Some of the icons are not displayed properly for some of my programs. And, all of my system resotre points are gone.
Try restoring the files that were located in the “\System Volume Information” folder. These are the system repore files.
Otherwise, there is nothing our program could’ve done to the restore points – it’s quite likely that they’re actually non-functioning because of the virus itself…
The File size of the Virus Chest is 2.47 Gigs. Yes, that means that avant created a folder, and put 2.47 gigs worht of files in there. Avants fault. i dont want them there. I want all files in the treasure chest removed and put back in the original location.
How do u restore files from there? Step by Step Instructions.....
Open the (ehm, virus) chest, sort the files in there by the 'original location' column, and scroll to those that have "C:\System Volume Information\" in that column. Then select them, and click Restore...

To delete the files from the chest, there is nothing easier than selecting them, and choosing Delete.
Avants fault.
Fault? You had to choose to move the files to the chest yourself! That’s what you wanted the program to do! And that’s what it did!
Please, chill out a bit. Insulting other people obviously won’t help. :-X
Im not insulting anyone, what im saying is that this program is the bigest waste i have ever seen. My cmputer worked much better before i fell into this trap. i will be sure to warn people of this $hitty program.
