Program Update and Boot-time Scans

I have reason to suspect that my computer may be infected but I have no time to do a full scan, so I wanted to set a boot-time then shut it down to ensure rootkits dont install next time I power it up.

I updated the program before setting a boot-time scan. As usual, when Avast updates it needs to restart your computer to work. The thing is, I am curious if the boot-time will interfere, or be interfered with, by the process of Avast updating.

Will there be any possible negative effects?

Unfortunately I will have to shut my computer down before help arrives it appears.

I wouldn’t recommend setting the boot time scan before avast has completed it’s reboot as it will still be finalising it’s install.

If you suspect your system is infected then you should probably take this up further in the virus and worms section http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=4.0 and follow the instuctions within the top thread of that section to supply the neccessary logs and then wait for one of the Malware experts to assist you further.

Okay, thanks for your time mate.
