Using Add Remove programs, select avast! Anti-virus and click Remove/Change button (if your OS doesn’t support this you wont see Change on the button). You will now have a series of options scroll down and select Repair. You will need to be on-line to achieve this.
Sometimes servers are down. Can you manually try a little bit after that… some minutes should be enough.
It’s not necessary to uninstall, just repair your installation:
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
I had the same problem on both my computers:
When updating or upgrading:
“Error: cannot connect to the server”
On one pc, I did a repair and all went fine.
On the second pc, neither repair, nor unistall/reinstall solved the problem.
And I use the same Internet connection, same OS and applications (english versions on one, french version on another)
Pls advise.
Thank you
P.s. I am not being able to find "new post’ on the forum; Am I missing something?
