How do I know if I need to get a program update rather than definitions updates?
I’m one that during the day before checking my email, I’ll right click on the icon in navigation tray and check for updates. How do I know if I need to check for a program update?
Right click on the blue bubble in the Taskbar then open the top blue button where it will indicate the Build Jul2008 (4.8.1227) which is the latest build.
The program update differs from the VPS update in that it isn’t automatic (could be larger download and take time) so you don’t want it to kick off automatically. It does check for updates, but is set to notify if an update is available, click the notification pop-up if you want it to update then or leave it and do a manual update when you aren’t busy.
It also differs in that program updates are over a 7 day cycle to spread server load, so you might be lucky to get the notification on day one or as long as day 7. Regular visitors to the forums get to know what is going on as a beta is usually notified in the forums as it the notification of the regular release of the program update.
Let virus database (VPS) to be automatically updated.
If you want, you can let program updates automatically too, but will have to wait until 7 days to get it.
I think you shouldn’t worry about updates letting them on automatic.
