Program version: 4.6.763 ?

I notice the latest version is:

avast! 4 Home/Pro Edition
program: 4.6.763 28.1.2006

Although I have the latest update, 0605-2 31/01/06, I observe in “About avast!..” :

Build: Dec2005(4.6.744)

Should the entry now read 4.6.763 or is version 4.6.763 only obtained by a new download and installation?

Did you right click the “A” ball in your toolbar and click “updating” then program update? If you do that it should show.

Did you try Updating>Program Update? There are two types of updates and one is virus definition update while the other is program update. If you try to update Avast engine, you need to choose program update.

Also, Program Settings…>Update(Basic) provides some options about the two updates.

Yes i think thats what he"s missing up. He thinking that updating the Virus Def, also update the program.

Thank you all respondents. I have only been updating the virus definitions.

Is it best to update the program or is it a matter of little significance?

Yes, it is better to update the program also. It will only take a min or 2 and your computer will be safer. :slight_smile:
