You are in the same boat as us. We were AVG clients that got automatically “upgraded” to Avast. This moved us from AVG client 3.6.4 to Avast client 4.0, which then got upgraded to 4.0.1, which then got upgraded to 4.0.2. I’m guessing people referring to clients on the 17.x version might be a completely separate product? We use what is labeled “Avast Business CloudCare”. When hovering over the “avastbusiness” logo in the upper left of the console, it states it is “Avast Business CloudCare 4.0.2 Build 572”.

The whole process for us has been horrible and Avast must realized it because they’ve disabled updates. There is NO way that the 4.0 client we ended up with should have ever been released, and certainly not as a business product. This post really hit home and matches our experience: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=208493.0

My only advice is that if you haven’t already password-protected the UI, do it immediately. It won’t fix any existing problems but, without doing that, your regular users could make a few clicks and start doing things like disabling AV protection or using the “Data Shredder” to permanently delete whatever files/drives they want.
