Proxy settings

I am on ICS (4.0.3) and I am connecting via wifi at the Uni. I can configure the wifi proxy without problems with the advanced settings of ICS. However avast cannot connect. I am aware that there are requirements (www.android-proxy.com/2012/04/whats-taste-of-ice-cream-on-my-sandwich.html) from the software developers to access the proxy feature. I know that the proxy works as I can use a configured opera. Is there any way I can set up avast to do that as well?
Regards

we have no proxy support in avast! yet. Maybe you can set up generic proxy in Android settings?

I noticed that even if I properly install elsewhere (without proxy) I cannot send commands within the proxy. Which ports are the commands going through? It might be a port issue.
