When i tried to install something from fresh installers from i.e. chip.de, avast often sees something malicious.
same thing goes for old installers, which installed with no problems in the past.
At the moment it bugs me the most that i can’t install PSPAD editor http://www.pspad.com/ and Eraser http://eraser.heidi.ie/, even not from their homepages without giving a a warning by avast.
PSPad does not require installation, it can be simply unpacked into any directory.
And for eraser (and alike applications) You can run, but not hide.
Companies like Ontrack can still recover the data.
Only way to really destroy your data is sending your medium that holds the data directly into the sun’s core.
Not to take this off into tangential territory, but I doubt anyone can get data that’s been deleted off an SSD. No need for any special software when the normally issued TRIM command causes the data in the cells to be erased a short time afterward.
