Public Wifi: Secureline VPN vs. Firewall "Public" Setting

Hi guys!

Just a bit confused, non-techie here.

Avast Secureline VPN is supposed to protect from hackers/snoopers when using a public Wifi network.

Likewise, Avast Firewall also has a “Public” setting to “keep hackers out” when using public Wifi.

So… is there any benefit using Secureline VPN when you already have Firewall set to “Public?”

Or… does it matter whether I set the Firewall to Public or Private, if I already have Secureline VPN?

Perhaps I only need one of them, and not both…

Appreciate your take on this!

My interpretation (as a non-avast firewall user is):
It is a different function, the Public Vs Private mode of the Avast Firewall is just a more strict policy in who is allowed to connect to your network (private only your local network).
