PUP.Optional.Outbrowse

I am just curious as to why this particular item was not detected by AVAST free version, and, after running MalwareBytes Antimalware this app picked it out no trouble at all. Did I miss something when I was going through the settings section after having installed this program?

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated at this moment in time.

Thanks!

Hi,

First PUP is the character for non-virus but as the potentially unwanted program that behaves not fully maliciously. I know …that dumb but …you know …

avast! does not target PUP by default. You can set avast in settings to target PUP. Malwarebytes does target only known pup (just as avast) and avast have great tool kalled Browser CleanUp tool:

And if you wanna malware & PUP analysis, run this one.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (
http://www.mcshield.net/personal/magna86/Images/FRST_canned.png
) by Farbar and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

[*]Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
[*]Press Scan button.
[*]It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
[*]The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.
