I purchased Avast and received an email asking me to contact them in order to validate my order. is this for real? why would they need me to contact them? if this is the case I will cancel the order. if this is not the case then I have spam from them or someone is trying to get info from me…ty
I depends on the payment method iirc, if you have to validate it or not.
There is nothing wrong with that.
It is just to make sure you did place the order and not someone who is using your name.

You can always choose “show headers” in the mail and look for the sender.
And since you just placed the order and received the mail right after it, is very unlike that is spam/scam 
Unless you bought it at a untrusted website.
I had this happen to me with another company when I had a fraud alert in place as an extra security. The company just wants to verify as extra security as well. I would just validate it and don’t worry about it as long as you got it from a reputable site.
