Putting AVAST in a new p.c..

H,
Well my old Pentium II Compaq finally died this morning! I went out and bought a HP Pavilion, it came loaded with Norton of course which I quickly removed. Now tell me if I did the right thing I came here and registered for another key, I wasn’t able to transfer anything from the old p.c., when I said it died that’s just what I meant, nothing whatsoever happened when I turned it on!!!. Will there be a problem with my registration for the new p.c. as far as my past status is concerned? Someone get back to me soon, I’m a lost lamb in a cyberworld of vicious predators. Another thing, I see that there is a firewall with XP, will that stop me from downloading Zone Alarm, my choice in firewalls?

If you registered again you will be sent a key, if you used the same email address you may get a copy of your old key, or a new one if you used a different email or it didn’t recognise that you had registered before. In either case you have a valid key.

The new installation will give you the full 60 day unrestricted access using the demo key, so you have some time before you absolutely need to enter your key.

Hi if you install avast onto your new machine and put your old number in it will soon tell you whether you have to reapply again.
On windows xp go into firewall in cotrol panel and just turn it off that way if at any time you want to re enable it you can.

Firewalls don’t stop you downloading user initiated downloads.
When you install ZA, it may well disable the windows XP firewall, if not it is easy to disable as thedon57 mentioned.
