Qestion about "On-Access Pr. Control"

I don’t have Outlook as my mailclient.

I´ve noticed that in the provider for Outlook/exchange, under “customice”, there is a
parameter for inbound mail called “Discard infected mails unconditionally.”

If I mark this for use, will it then take affect on my mailclient which is Outlook Express, or is there another way to do that.

For Outlook Express you need to Check the Internet Mail provider Customize… for settings that you can apply to OE.

The Outlook/Exchange Plug-in is for MS Outlook (full not OE) or MS Exchange email clients only, if you don’t have these you should terminate the Outlook/Exchange plug-in.

What version of avast are you using Home or Pro?

No, different providers.
For OE, you can use Silent Mode:

Left click the ‘a’ blue icon.
It will start On-access protection
Click on Internet Mail and then on Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and select Silent Mode and the default answer No. This will send the file (email) to Chest.

Are there not more options in the Pro version, that is why I asked wihch version they are using?

Thanks

I´m using Avast Home.

I have now disabled provider for Outlook/Exchange.

But I dont fully understand “silent mode”. If I do like Tech suggest, will it then move
any infected files/mails to the chest, and still let the good ones go into my mailbox. ???

Maybe I should reed the manual, but it´s easier to ask here

I have been thinking ::slight_smile:

Silent mode!!! It means that action is performed whitout asking me, if there is a virus found.

Am I right, or what

Yes. The specific provider (email scanner) will do it.

No, they will be moved to Chest, not copied.

Maybe i ´m stupid. ???

If silent mode is enabled then I see two possibility’s

  1. I receive an infected mail…it will be moved to chest whitout further delay. Yes?

  2. I receive a not infected mail…it will go to my mailbox. Yes?

Thanks for your patience

If silent mode is enabled you’ll have two possibilities:

  1. With the default answer NO: you’ll receive an infected mail and it will be moved to Chest without further delay or user interaction.
  2. With the default answer YES: you’ll receive an infected mail and it will go to your mailbox without user interaction and will remain infected.

Thank you.

I think I will go with the default answer no.
It seems best for me
