I am running Avast Free Antivirus and it is fully up-to-date. If I open the quarantine window in the program, I see three items listed. However, if I hover over one of them and click the trashcan or click the box to the left of the items and then ‘Delete All’, nothing happens. I found this posting, https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=185374.0, navigated to the folder identified, and the folder is empty.
What on earth is going on? More importantly, can I clear the quarantine list in Avast?
Did you select the item you want to delete (on the left side of the screen) You should also get a Delete option at the bottom.
I retain an old detection in quarantine to enable me to create a screenshot as in this case. So I don’t really want to delete it. That should also give the option to select all and the Delete should remove all.
Though what you mentioned should also work unless it has been revised.
Not entirely sure what/where you mean by deleting the Quarantine List ?
If you are talking about one of the related log files, it may be protected by the Avast Self Defence module.
OK - Something is clearly wrong.
Try an Avast Repair > Avast UI > Menu > Settings > General > Troubleshooting - Scroll down to the Repair APP and do a system power restart.
This problem happened to me yesterday as well.
Practically selecting the quarantined items and clicking on delete nothing happened. After restarting the PC they were deleted.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Avast Free. I tried again today and it doesn’t do it anymore.
Do you still have the problem? Have you also tried to execute the indications suggested by David?
I just tried both repair and restarting, but the files still appear in the quarantine. Are the only options available to me: learning to live with it or un/reinstall Avast?
