you find the Quarantine in the Interface under Maintenance in the top. Then go to virus chest.
Right click on the files and click on extract fron Chest (third in the list) and save them to the desktop.
Now go to settings in top right and go to global exclusions and add them there, now go back to the chest and right click
on the files and click restore, to restore them to their old place.
Since my post I have attempted to educate myself more by downloading and reading the manual. I found the File System Shield Scan Log which confirmed the files have been deleted …ouch.
I went into the File System Shield Scan Settings (for the first time ever). The first action was "move to chest’ the second action was ‘delete’. This seems to indicate that for some reason the supposedly delinquent files could not be ‘moved to chest’. They were quite large .exe files and perhaps exceeded chest size limits. I have now made this size ‘unlimited’. I have also made the second action ‘ask’ not ‘delete’. ‘Delete’ seems a bit drastic for any default setting (unless some outside agency has modified this setting for virus effect)
I am currently searching my extensive archives to try to find historical back-ups of the deleted files. I think I have them.
Refering to another post on this forum, it is interesting that I also did a Java download only minutes before getting this Avast warning. Avast has scanned these files for years previously without any complaint.
To be on the safe side I had better run a full scan without delay.
