I have noticed this info when clicking on Outlook/Exchange
“The provider is waiting for a subsystem to start”
What does this mean, and do I need to do anything?
And what does the “Exchange” refer to?
I have Outlook Express, and don’t use Outlook - if that has any relevance.
The Outlook/Exchange provider is an avast plugin exclusively for use with the Microsoft Outlook mail client (which connects to the Microsoft Exchange mail server products as well as regular POP/SMTP and IMAP servers). For Outlook the plugin is a superior alternative to - and supplants - the Internet Mail provider. If you start this provider then the service it is waiting for is Microsoft Outlook.
Microsoft Outlook is completely separate from Outlook Express.
There is no value at all in running the Outlook/Exchange provider for non-Microsoft Outlook users.
