Question about factory resetting and license

So, I got a phone that didn’t work on my particular network. In anticipation of returning it, I did a factory reset of the device, but didn’t remove the SecureLine subscription on that device prior to doing so. Does resetting the device also free up one of the 5 device slots allowed with each subscription? And if not, what can I do to free up that slot?
