Did a scan and 2 files came up with trojan - one with restore and one with Spywareblaster. Moved to chest and ran scan there and it said no virus. My question is should I restore these files or delete them. Thanks
Whilst it might well have been a correction to the VPS resulting in the original detections no longer considered infected (a good reason for sending to the chest). So yes, you could restore them or you could investigate further (which could have been done on initial detection).
You didn’t say what the original file name location or malware names were ?
Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast ‘a’ icon), Warning section, this contains information on all avast detections.
These you can google, etc to see if there are any associations with these files and malware.
You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and that should confirm if they aren’t detected by any other scanners. You can’t do this with the file securely in the chest, you need to extract it to a temporary (not original) location first, see below.
Create a folder called Suspect in the C:\ drive, e.g. C:\Suspect. Now exclude that folder in the Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add, type (or copy and paste) C:\Suspect* That will stop the standard shield scanning any file you put in that folder. You should now be able to export any file in the chest to this folder and upload it to VirusTotal without avast alerting.
Shortly, yes, you can restore them imho.
