Question about Network Lock

Hello avast forums. I apologize if this has been answered already. I don’t know if the free version has this but, on the summary page there is a feature called Network Lock. When you turn it on it disables all network communication. Will it still be in effect when the computer is turned off and is still connected to a network? I’m guessing no because avast doesn’t run when the computer is shut off. That would mean the avast firewall is off also. I want to know because I’m always connected to a network and I’ve heard worms can enter the computer even when it’s not turned on. Thanks and sorry if this is a stupid question, I don’t know a whole lot about this stuff.

A firewall router is a good security measure for this, if your PC is always connected, it is plugged/running when PC is off.

The free version of avast doesn’t have a firewall, that is only in the Avast Internet Security suite paid version.

There is no such feature on my Summary screen and I’m using the avast free 5.0.545 version, so what does it say at the top of that avastUI window, mine says avast Free Antivirus ?

i have the internet security version. I don’t think the free version has it.

Well… where did you heard that the worm will enter with the computer turned off? ???

Can’t speak for OP, but I was told this before (word-of-mouth). That’s not to say I completely believed it, the source was…flakey, at best. By all means, confirm or deny, enlighten me

Well, I heard from various places on the web. They say worms can spread through the network even if the computer is off. I don’t know if they’re right though. If it’s not possible for that to happen, then that would be great ;D So can anyone confirm?
