All versions still have the remote assistance function, the premier version is more like go to my pc. Where you can access other computers you own from anywhere
How do you use it in the Free edition? Remotely Control a computer seems OK (I enter my account information). But Configure This Computer… is grayed out and "Sorry this feature is only available in Avast Premiere edition. So how can I access a computer that uses the Free version?
I am seeing the same thing in my free version of Avast 8. My option is greyed out too and it’s telling me the option is only available in the paid version.
Access Anywhere is available in the “premier” version. It is not in Free, Pro or, AIS.
You must pay for it. Premier has everything that the “lower” three have with a little more.
There is a new product tier called Premier, it includes 3 new features:
• Data Shredder for wiping files, drives, and partitions
• Software Updater in autoupdate mode
• AccessAnywhere for remotely connecting to your PC no matter where you are
So is there any Remote Access in the Free Version? If not, Avast should change the comparison chart on their website. Remote access is still listed as a feature of the Free Version.
Just to add my two bits worth but the remote function does not work in the free version, I get an error popup then the remote screens go grey after clicking the popup.
That’s not how it’s supposed to be though (Remote Assistance is present everywhere, only AccessAnywhere is Premier-only).
What if you go into Control Panel / Programs and Features and check the installed components of your avast! - is there avast! Remote Assistance checked there?
Thanks! I actually figured it out this afternoon working on a customer’s PC. The new interface is quite different and I was confused this morning (pre-coffee).
Not to sound ungrateful, but responses like this are totally unhelpful.
