Question about Scheduling a scan on Avast free

I would like to know if my daily schedule scan will run the next time i start my computer if my computer is shut down at the time it is schedule to run?

I know a weekly scan is enough but i am VERY cautious with my computer & like to have a quick scan done daily with a full scan done once a week. When I not using my computer I shut down the whole computer by turning it complete off. I do not use standby or hibernate mode, been told many times not to hibernate because there might be a time my computer does not come out of that mode. Plus when i put my computer into standby mode when it comes out of that the fan in the computer makes a really loud noise. Also my two kids like to touch the keyboard & mouse all day long, So it is a lot easier for me to just shut down my desktop computer when i am not on it. Now the time i am on my computer changes every day like tomorrow i might be on at 10am then the next day might be 1pm then the next day might be 8am. Right now i have my scan to run at 9am everyday. I just got Avast free two days ago, switched from AVG. Was told Avast is much better & easier to use so i made the switch. I Have windows XP & am using the free version of Avast. Thanks in advance for the help.

I don’t believe it will, it would continue on the next scheduled occurrence. It should be easy to test though.

I have no idea why you are doing a daily scan, this is very old school (but habit forming) from the days of on-demand only scanners:

  • With a resident on-access antivirus like avast, the need for frequent on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part the on-demand scan is going to be scanning files that would be otherwise be dormant or inert. If they were active files then the on-access file system shield would be scanning them before being created, modified, opened or executed.

I have avast set to do a scheduled weekly Quick scan, set at a time and day that I know the computer will be on. If for some reason my system wasn’t on, no big deal I will catch up on the next scheduled scan.
