I am using Avast pro antivirus v5. Does it offer protection against Trojans or should I use another software to prevent them?
I have AIS 5X and it has blocked trojans trying to infect my computer.
Yes avast! offer 360 degree protection against viruses,trojans,spywares,rootkits,…all of them.
You may have another anti malware program"but really you dont need that much".Good anti malwares are MBAM and SUPERAnti-spyware.
What is your opinion about Spyware terminator free edition x64 bit?
For some reason I cannot update MBAM free after installation (my system comes up with error).
What is the error you are getting?
Did you download it from here: free http://www.malwarebytes.org/ (the blue button). Reboot after installing. Update the MBAM definitions prior to scanning.
I like Spyware Terminator, specially their scan result when categorize Detections as “Threat” , “Safe” and “Unknown” and you can decide about unknowns. But only for ‘scanner only’ (on-demand) and not real-time.
Update using ‘Offline Updater’, You can download from Here: http://data.mbamupdates.com/tools/mbam-rules.exe
Once you updated using this, see if next time you can update online or you have problem again.
Note: Offline updater setup updates less often than online update.
