Question on email scanning

I use Avast Free. Windows XP SP3. I use Incredimail for my email program. Don’t know if you need this but I use FireFox 15 also. I noticed that Avast does not scan emails coming in thru my gmail account or my Yahoo plus account that I pull through Incredimail. I got a popup notice that they are secure connections and Avast cannot scan them. My question is…does Gmail and Yahoo mail scan emails that I download? Or am I at risk for viruses because Avast doesn’t scan them? It does scan the email from my ISP email account.

I would appreciate any information. Thank you!

I figured out how to get Gmail to be scanned by Avast. Not Yahoo tho.

My question is....does Gmail and Yahoo mail scan emails that I download?
yes. Yahoo protect all mail accounts with Norton and Gmail use postini spam/virus filter with two virus engines from authentium and mcafee

you have two options…since Gmail and Yahoo already protect there accounts you can ignore and turn off the SSL account warning pop-up
see bottom of screenshot #32 how to turn it off

if you want avast to scan them, the setup for Gmail and Yahoo should be the same

for avast to scan SSL accounts, you must disable SSL settings in your mails client and let avast do the SSL connection

Thank you! I have them both set up now. I know they scan them, but I really feel better seeing Avast scan as it comes into my mailbox. I appreciate the help.
